Simple writing, honest delivery, influences on my sleeve (sometimes).I love what I do and I hope it shows.
Recorded by Jeff Campbell Mixed and Mastered by Forrest Day Live recording, originally for the NPR Tiny Desk Contest, but liked the performance enough to get it out anyway. This song is both a tribute to my fellow working singer songwriters and me, and a message to those who seem to forget how great it is to actually go and see live music verses just looking/listening online.
Modern, Alternative Rock Influenced Singer Songwriter
Jeff Campbell’s onstage experiences have taken him to coast to coast countless times and found him sharing stages with John Mayer, members of Counting Crows, The Grateful Dead, and opening for Train. After being crowned winner of Guitar Center's National Singer Songwriter Competition out of over 13,000 entrants, his 2013 EP Release, “In Spite of Everything”, produced by 6x Grammy Winner John Shanks, premiered at #1 on the iTunes rock EPs and singles charts, following a performance on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show. Watch him strap an acoustic guitar on his back, board a public bus with 75 strangers, and traipse his way across the country. Here’s a singer-songwriter who loves nothing more than the sound of his voice reverberating off a music venue’s back walls. Yes, this is Jeff Campbell’s life, and as he’ll readily tell you, it isn’t so much a choice as it’s his calling. “This is just who I am” says the vocalist, impassioned songwriter and lifelong musician who with The Kitchen Sink, has at long last concocted the album that represents him at his core and is willing to do whatever it takes to feel the rush of human connection.
2 raised-on-rock songwriters from the SF Bay Area got together and wrote one, and paid tribute to a favorite.
Jeff Campbell & Dave Rude have rubbed elbows for over a decade on the scene in the SF Bay Area. A chance logistical phone call raised the topic of cowriting together. The result, 'Earthquake' is a song that comes from both their influences. And when talking about some of their favorite writers an cowrites in rock history, the Desmond Child/Aerosmith cowrite, 'What it Takes' was agreed on as a favorite of both and a tribute was immediately laid down.
Memorable melodies and relatable lyrics delivered in broken down, believable performances by one of San Francisco's rising rock stars.
"Brilliantly written and delivered even better, takes me to the meat of a moment, and I loved being allowed in." -Ellen Hawkins, Relate Magazine
"The man's strongest album yet, with brilliant songs that showcase his trembly voice, acoustic guitar and dewy-eyed romanticism." -John Shelton Ivany
"With his acoustic pearl ‘Stop And Go’, Jeff convinces me of his ability as a great singer and songwriter. Two guitars, two voices… and after a first listening you’ll probably say … 'Oh My God, what kind of magic did I undergo here'.” -Alfons Maes - Keys and Chords- Belgium
"There's always a lot of debate as to which, if any, Bay Area artists could be destined for real fame. Folksy balladeer Jeff Campbell might be a good contender." -East Bay Express, Oakland, CA
